先日、ブックフェアで発見！「不思議の国のアリス」(著者：ルイス・キャロル)といえば、ジョン・テニエル（John Tenniel, 1820年2月28日 - 1914年2月25日）の挿絵のあの意地悪そうで可憐なアリスだ。だが、本作は、ルイス・キャロル自筆作品なのである。昨年2008年、ロンドンで制作された3,750部限定エディション。

本書は「不思議の国のアリス」の原型となった肉筆原稿である。アリス・リデル(Alice Liddell)という10歳の少女にせがまれて執筆し、1864年11月にクリスマスプレゼントとしてアリス・リデルにプレゼントした貴重な書籍の復刻。

欲しかったが、高かったので、眺めて立ち去った。少し後悔している。アリスといえば、ティム・バートン版のティーザー映像が届いている。
